Hello, So this is my first post, I recently bought a 1968 (according to the previous owner) Ace camper, based on what I could find on line, the model is a Heart . IMG_0730 by Paul Richmond, on Flickr Here is an interior view IMG_0724 by Paul Richmond, on Flickr I see just one other thread regarding Ace campers? I am still investigating this forum, and haven't started doing anything to it yet, but it looks like the first step would be to take off the lower exterior panels, is there a post regarding how the crimped? joint comes apart?

Welcome!
"is there a post regarding how the crimped? joint comes apart?"
Can you share a photo of this area? I think you're talking about either a Pittsburgh seam or S-lock but a photo will help.
It's worth doing a lot of research before you begin. Along with info you'll find here there are two resources from our members you should check out: Some excellent videos at cannedhamtrailers.com And a great book at vintagetrailerrepairmanual.weebly.com/

The ACE camper is different. If I remember correctly this camper has metal panels on the inside. The cabinets are wood and wood paneling but the walls and the wrap are metal. I believe the seams are either Pittsburg or S Locks. I'm not sure what the framing is made out of. You will notice that there is no J Rail or fold over on the wrap. You will need to do your homework on this trailer before you start to take it apart. Not going to be your typical restore. Looks great the way it is actually. I'd like to know what is under the skin but what ever you do don't use a sawzall to find out and don't gut it.

Yes the inside walls are also aluminum, you can see the teal and white walls in the interior picture, I guess that "seam" is a better term than crimp, once I get a window out I'll post an end view of the seam. I will definitely be taking it apart carefully. Still trying to get my garage cleaned out so there is room for it LOL.

Just make sure you educate yourself about how these trailers are built before you do anything. You disassemble them in the opposite order that they are assembled. This is what we call the discovery period where you find out how they are actually put together. Don't use a sawzall. Remove fasteners. Don't cut them. Lastly, before you start disassembly, photograph the heck out of the trailer. Top sides, underneath, front, rear, close up and back some, inside and out. Photograph more than you think you need to. Photograph small things and big things. Inside the cabinets too. You will be referring to these photographs a lot when reassembling. Document your build all the way through. Start to finish. Every time you remove something take a photo. You won't believe how helpful the photos will be later.

I've been on both sites and never had a virus problem. I wonder if Mobiltec (it's his site) has heard this before about cannedhamtrailers.com ?

My site is about as simple as it gets. Nothing fancy about it and no advertising. By the way I write my own HTML so I know everything that is in there.

Never a problem with either site. Sometimes adblockers are cranky; if you have one, try turning it off. Also try just typing in Cannedhamtrailers without the .com and then click on the suggestion. Larry's site comes up first for me. The Tin Can Tourist site has lots of ads but is also safe.
Beware The Tin Inn! if it pops up.
