I found this to be sickening, especially when you see the video of what it was when it was bought. Please watch at your own risk and not on a full stomach. youtu.be/RdDV2t3OK2U

I wish I had a crew like that. Hopefully I'd help them do it right. My crew was a little less experienced but a bit more open to instruction.

Ain't no "vintage" left there. I mean, it does look "nice" but why not just do it to a contemporary trailer instead?

I literally removed every wall and ceiling panel and used the wood to repair the cabinets, then replaced the walls and ceiling with new wood. Those rollers are weapons against authenticity.

I, too got a kick out of the damaged wood being unrepairable. Well at least they tried to repair it... with bonds. I just pity the poor owner who has to figure out how to get all those layers of “sealant” off the leaking roof. Oh wth, they’ll have to do a frame off anyway. What a waste of $8200!

New video title: How to Turn a Vintage Camper into a Cheap Roadside Motel.
I'm amazed how much weight that roof held. Two men working up there at once?

OMG! What I can't believe is that they got almost 400k views on this stupid video. HOW TO DO EVERYTHING WRONG ON A TRAILER BUILD. That should have been the title. Geeesh. Can't wait to show this video to my students.

I’d love to see that ceramic tile after they’d hit one of the craters we have down here on I-65.

Your crew is also way cuter! Our eldest granddaughter would have loved to help with Hamlet, but she wasn’t old enough to walk then.
And why would anyone spend $8200 on “fixing up” a trailer and then use cans of spray paint on the outside? Wood plank floors. Ceramic tile backsplash? I do hope they sell it as a backyard retreat or B&B.

WOW.....what a hack job these guys are putting over on the youtube public. exactly! And why do it to such a nice vintage? I told the guy he would have a lot more room in a fema trailer to do his Chip and JoJo experiments.

This roling piece of rotted out junk has gotten 150,000 views since it was put up on this board. I still can't believe it. Here is the comment I just left and I doubt it will stay up long. All of you should chime in on my comment while it's still there.
"Now over a half million people have witnessed exactly how to NOT restore an old piece of rotted out, rolling garbage. The metal skins needed to be removed and rotted framing replaced. This trailer will not be safe on the road and I pity anyone driving behind it on the free way when it falls apart at 60mph. Putty and paint do not a solid trailer make."

The thing that makes me the most sad about “restorations” like this is that they virtually eliminate the possibility that this piece of history will still be around in another 50 or 60 years. If this guy had just done it correctly from the beginning, he’d have saved himself a lot of time and probably angst. I had to laugh when he said he was lgonna get out loft the trailer, like he was in a hurry and afraid the scary asbestos would rise up out of the tiles and attack him.
A side note... When we did Hamlet, we didn’t get an asbestos test kit. We just assumed it was there and did everything we’d have done if a test kit had shown asbestos was present. I was used to being around very large asbestos abatement projects and understood that with 60sq ft of tile, if we followed the appropriate procedures, we’d have little or no exposure. Why get nuts over something so small, then ignore the parts that have to do with function and safety.
Sigh.
