I was driving outside town and sitting on a farm was this...
I've been looking for years and never seen a ham in the area. Not one like this in the entire state. I asked to look inside. Gutted a few weeks ago to get rid of all that amber paneling. Ouch! The framing was in remarkably good condition. Heartbreaking.
But it was still a nice surprise.

They ought to be shot dead for doing this to such a nice little ham.

When somebody tells me "I've been saving this camper in the barn for more years than I remember!" followed by "Three months ago I gutted it!" it's heartbreaking.
Timing is everything.
With that said, they were nice people who just didn't know better. I think older men (me included) have a hard time seeking out advice before starting a project. It feels somehow humiliating. Like asking for directions when we're lost. You've heard the phrase arrogance of youth? It's nothing in comparison to the stubborn pride of old age.

You're too nice NC... LOL... I would put them in the Canned Ham Hall Of Shame... This is an old Aljoa... What a shame.

I thought it was a Detroiter... at least the decal says that. But the paint pattern is Aljoa. Hmmmmm.
