Hello fellow VTE,
I am restoring a 1971 Cardinal Deluxe 13' and I am needing to move it into a shop for the winter. Both the tire treads have separated from the tire itself and completely rotted and blown out. I have it on jack stands for the repairs I have done so far, but it has to be moved for the winter or my repairs will be subjected to the harsh winter. I am hoping someone can guide me in the direction of what actual tires should go on my camper, as I don't believe the existing are the originals. The tire size now says: 205/70 r15 95S which seems like it would work, but I'd like the original size if this isn't it. The rim is a 5 lug, but I don't believe that matters until I get into the axle and trailer brake replacement later on. I would appreciate anyone who has definitive knowledge or documentation regarding the tires I should buy. Thank you all for the time.

I don't have a simple answer for you but this is an interesting thread with a lot of tire information:
vikx owned a Cardinal and hopefully will chime in.

Hi,Welcome to the forum.Ive been dismantling all usable parts from 73 13',upon pulling original cardinal baby moons noticed barely ledgeable tire size of 7.75-15St,the same on spare also. This trlr sat forever, collapsed roof rotten tires etc.managed to get a few good widows with all glass.Tires may very well be original as discontinued sometime back. Good luck with your two desigions in tire size replacement? Mark

My Cardinal was a 64 and I believe had "normal" Ford passenger rims, 5 on 4 1/2. Don't remember the tire size. The only worry would be a tire too large to fit the wheel well. A 71 shouldn't be too much trouble to fit.
