I have a question for the more experienced out there. My Westerner will be getting her frame sand blasted soon and I am just finishing up getting the axle, leaf springs, hubs, and wheels off to clean up as well. In doing so we discovered that two or three leaves are broken on one side. Looking for replacements for them has led to some confusion. They are double eye 27", 1.75 with 7 leaves. We can only find 26" that fit the measurements at 7 leaves or 27" with only 5 leaves. I wonder if 7 is original to the trailer? No way to tell, unless someone out there knows more than I do about this old girl. The wheels/tires are big on this trailer: 205/75R15 or 6.7-15 as originally came with the unit. I am afraid that if we change leaf springs these big tires won't fit as well or perhaps the suspension/ride will suffer somehow. I have a spring/suspension shop not too far from me that will hopefully be able to help, but anyone have experience changing springs out or getting them repaired so we can keep what we have? Thanks!

I don't know much about springs but I think you want to pay attention to weight and length not the number of leafs. Also you can call most of the companies and talk to someone there and they will help you figure out what you need.

Nowadays trailer springs and axles are much more standardized than they were in the 50s and 60's. It's no surprise that you can't find an off the shelf spring to fit.
I suggest taking both springs to your local shop and have a new set made.

On one of our campers we couldn't find the right spring length so the suspension shop cut and moved the shackles further apart.
