Hi, Y'allI'm starting to think about my next project, I have narrowed the year down based on reading through the Shasta vin #s database thread. it is either a 1967 or 1968 Shasta 1500. My ? is. what year did the DOT start requiring campers to have marker lights on the front and back. I know it was around 1968 I just can't remember if that was the last year that didn't have them of the first year they were required. I would like this one to look more oriental on the outside then my first rebuild, but at the end of the day this one is for my daughter and son-in-law so it will be what they want and need. 10CE25B6-7191-41F4-AAF9-6D8085E7D42D by debra branch, on Flickr I'm just trying to get the year tied down now so we can start working on getting a title for her before we get to much money invested in her...…….. Thanks for the help Debra

I think it is a 1966 or 1967 at the newest. My 68 has clearance lights per federal requirements 5 across.

Thank you, it must be a 1967 based on the vin number. I read through the entire vin #s post all the way up to August of last year and found numbers on both sides of this one from the same factory. One was a 1967 the other was a 1969 so I knew the lights would be the final indicator in the puzzle. Next step getting her title work in order........... Debra

Hi, Y'allI'm starting to think about my next project, OH NO! You're hooked! See what happens when you get your first hit of this stuff! IMHO, the siding says '67 or older. ('68 went to mesa) The upper side marker in the front is what's throwing me off though, might just be because it is a longer model? A Compact on steroids.

LOL To be honest it was supposed to be my first project. When I started researching on how to repair and rebuild this one I discovered that the Compact was not repaired properly. That made it the first on the list. At least I have a better understanding of what I need to do this time and that’s half the battle......... Debra

I’m guessing 1965 just by the pattern on the skin. If it has the original sink, the date will be on the bottom of it.

Bottom of sink has 31666 on it just like I have it no breaks. It is a 1967 according to the vin investigations and the fact that law changes in 1968 when marker lights were required on front and back.

I'm curious what happened in the rear. Did they back into something like a pole really hard or did someone slam into them from the rear?

I don’t know it was like that when we got it but I had the same thoughts. I have no doubt that we will need to have some repairs done to the frame. Lucky for us we have several family members that weld. I‘m hoping to learn a little more in that area........... Debra

Debra Learning about welding is a very good thing to do if you plan on doing this more in your life. Hi, Larry I agree with you, the more we learn the better off we are in anything we do. I'm not sure how many campers I will end up doing. I have no doubt that I will get through this one and I would love to find one more some time down the line to do as a photo booth. (completely operational camper that you can also use as a photo booth) Because at the end of it all if its not a safe camper that can be used to camp in then nothing else matters. Projects are therapy for me. I'm sure lots of Y'all think the same way. I have come to the conclusion that I will always need to have some kind of mental health project going. I also love the fact that my kids fight over who's house I'm going to, so I can help them with there home projects...…… Debra
