Hi Y'all
I was going through my parents old photos in preparation for my moms celebration of life, and came across a few pictures I thought you guys would enjoy.
This picture is from my parents first camping trip as a young family in 1966. My daddy does not remember whos truck camper this was. this was the first of numerous camping trips that my parents took my brothers and me on growing up.

In 1966 my daddy bought this pop up camper from sears for $400. It came in a box he took his tools with him to sears to pick it up opened the create took the axel, wheels, and tongue out and attached them. Then drove it home to complete the assembly

They used this camper for several years and enjoyed traveling with it. A side note my mom bought the 62 new when she graduated nursing school. My daddy was still driving that car in 1985.

We camped in this pop up through 1972. I fell out of it when I was 2years old. After that they decided it was time to upgrade. 5 people camping in a pop up this size is a tight fit.
(daddy sold this little camper for more than he payed for it when he sold it in 1973)
In early 1973 my parents went shopping for a new camper.

This is a 1972 Argosy (when I was 2) they bought it for $5,000. They bought it in early 1973 new it was old stock so they got a good price. They had an extra bunk added (costing $100) so it slept 5. It is the 18' model. AC costed $300, they couldn't afford that so we never had it. They were going to trade it in the next year for something a little larger but when they went to check on that, they discovered that the price had increased by 3thousand dollars. Just so you know we camped in this little camper until 1987. We even lived in it for about 7mounts when daddy was building our house in 1978. My brother pictured is the current owner of this camper. He is working on it slowly. He likes to let everyone know that even though the AC only costed $300 new It costed him $900 and he had to install it himself.
I am so lucky to have parents that took me camping as a child. They instilled in me a love for nature and a love for the outdoors. They are the reason I love to travel and camp. Thanks for allowing me to share this story...……….
