Bought this 1967 Shasta for $300 from a friend. It was in rough shape - it was their "hunting trailer". The real renovation started in January 2019. I've gotten a lot of inspiration from this site and its members.
The interior back of the trailer was pretty bad because there was no window (just a board) and the wings had been torn off the sides years ago - leaving holes to catch water inside.
We did not tear out the kitchen - the framing seemed to be pretty solid and there was only a little bit of the wood flooring that had to be replaced in the back corner.
I primed and painted all the old paneling wherever the birch plywood was not going in. I did NOT want to rebuild from scratch.
My husband re-wired the entire trailer for interior LED lights. We are keeping the stove/oven until we decide we may not use the oven and then possibly install a small fridge where the oven and lower cabinet are.
We removed the old nasty metal water tank and all its plumbing and are going to use a Marine Foot Pump system. It uses two 5 gallon water containers (location in the closet) and we are hoping this will keep our water usage to "what we need". I'm keep the exterior plumbing fixtures on the outside just so it looks original (without a bunch of patches).
I bought the retro formica from Home Depot when I noticed it was being discontinued (WHAT?). Had that about 2 years before even starting any demo - a must have!!! The name of the pattern is "Betty" from Wilsonart!
The flooring I got from Lowes. It is VCT tile and is very easy to install. Think of it like a really BIG contact cement project. Correct measuring is the key.
Check out the "mobiletec" fellow on YouTube. He has a LOT of great instructional videos. He shows how to take the Jalousie windows apart. He also shows how to install VCT tile.
Got lots of parts from Vintage Trailer Supply, Vintage Trailer Gaskets, LED lights from Amazon, RV Parts Country, and eBay. Can't wait to order my small Shasta wings from Tyler Bessette!
