I found a trailer that I like but it appears to have roof damage. The ceiling inside looks to be warped in certain spots. I have only seen in pictures but I plan to see it in person today.
Is there a damage I should stay away from?
My husband and I have done some remodeling on homes before but we know nothing about the camper trailers.
What would a new roof cost? Is it something we can do as first timers?

WIth out seeing the pictures it is hard to say. A roof can sometimes bow because of snow over the years. Look for water stains and that will tell you if it is true roof issue or a vent issue.
The best advise I can give you is research what it takes to fix a camper the right way. It normally means you take the metal off and have to replace boards and do lots of work. If you enjoy that then this may be something you like doing.
Depending on the type of roof it could get expensive do to shipping.
Good luck.
Mobiltec has a lot of videos to watch on youtube that will give you some ideas.

What is the trailer you’re looking at? Some trailers have no value what so ever and you can sink a lot of money in one. If you really love it then make sure it has all the parts. I bought one missing 2 windows and the windows cost me more than I gave for the trailer. You can throw pretty much anything that has to do with home remodeling out because trailers are a totally different animal. Not trying to scare you but just trying to give you some info I wish I had before I bought mine. Canned ham trailers.com. All the info you would ever need.

Welcome. I agree that we need to know more. If it is minor damage it might not be a bad fix. Hidden rot is always a concern. If you see water damage, there is ROT behind.
What brand, year, how long is the trailer? We are happy to help and need more info.

Do you have any kind of list of what brand trailers have no value whatsoever ? I'm not sure, but I dont think I want one of them.

Let’s say you take a 1985 Shasta that you bought for $1000 off the ole Craigslist then you get it home without researching and you have to put $3000 dollars into it it get it campable and road worthy. Now you have a $4000 1985 vintage Shasta ,not counting your labor that you’ll be weed eating around for 15 years until maybe the value goes up enough for you to find a sucker to buy it to put on his hunting club. What I meant was , as I know now that I didn’t know before I bought my Shasta is that some trailers aren’t worth the time to even look at much less sink money in to rebuild. I know now my 65 Shasta isn’t worth near as much as a canned ham of earlier models. Luckily I only have $300 in the trailer and about another $1000 in it to the point I’m at now but I do love it and I didn’t buy to resale.

If you love it, spend what you can and want to make it “new” again, then get your four or five or six thousand out of it. Have fun and use it. Fifteen years of vacations at hotels would certainly cost a lot more than that.

I should have added...
... Says the couple who traveled across Washington to buy a ham style Compact sight unseen, for $350 in an eBay auction. It came complete with caved in roof, rot everywhere, broken windows, a few bullet holes, and missing stove and kitchen upper. We spent more than a year and at least $5000 rebuilding and restoring it. We’ve had Hamlet for a decade now and have racked up not only thousands of miles, but thousands of memories. Was it worth it? Absolutely!
