There seems to be several kits readily available to convert to electric or even dual fuel. ie a 110 volt heating element installed in the 6 gal tank drain. 450 to 650 watts maybe more. New camper dealerships installing as an option. Was going to replace my Atwood w 6 gallon Electric unit when I stumbled on these conversations . Any thoughts or comments?

Be SURE the original Atwood is in good condition! If it leaks, you will be a very unhappy camper...
I have used "Lightning Rod" electric elements for water heaters and they work very well. They do block the drain hole, so if you live where it freezes, it will have to be removed every winter to drain the tank.
