I didn't know about this board till Larry (Mobiltec) mentioned it in one of his videos. I have a variety of trailers presently however am trying to transition to Spartans and one little La Cabana for dog and horse shows. Presently all of mine are projects. Like my '51 Spartanette Tandem: My recent acquisition hasn't yet made it up to the 'Lodge yet. It's a '54 Spartan Imperial Mansion (how's that for an ostentatious name? ). Not really intended to be a travel trailer but more an early Mobile Home. Which is appropriate as I plan on living in it. Looks pretty rough, including a six-foot hole on the traffic side. Thankfully, that hole is located in a blank wall. It's just finding the necessary parts to close it back up. Also, this trailer seems to have been painted from the Factory, which is rare with Spartans. Then there's the next acquisition the '53 La Cabana. Another I haven't got home yet. The Spartans I understand, for the most part. However this one is a whole different ball of wax. So I enrolled with Mobiltec and, well.. here I am too.

Hmm, that hole could be a huge picture window if you park it in a beautiful spot.

Welcome!
Any reason the former owner took off the panel?

Valid points, both. I had considered the window, French Doors, or a sliding door. However, I also want to keep the front bedroom as an office and since it extends half-way into the opening, my current idea is to just close it back up. To view, or not to view, that is the question! How about this view? It's the ranch I work at. Can't seem to find the pics of Fawn Lodge, at the moment.

Thank you, no idea. I would guess they were going to join it with another mobile also on the property. However all they did is chop a hole in one and lose the sliding door on the other, ruining them both. My best guess anyway.

This is your chance to have the only 54 with a slide out.

I could kind of turn the living room (or lounge) sideways and enlarge the front bedroom as well. However, I don't have the skills or money for something like that. So, the plan for the moment is to stick with the KISS principle and just close up the hole. After all, I live alone and don't really need all that much room.

Your idea for the present is a good one, but just to throw a monkey wrench into your brain (I do this all the time, it drives my hubby and kids nuts), there is some pretty good research out there that shows an increase in both productivity and creativity when you can look out a window.

A very valid point about the window. Salient to my reasoning to make the front bedroom an office. The whole front of the coach is windows! It would make a better greenhouse than bedroom. A great place for my orchids. As for the lounge or Living-room, if you look just abaft of the gaping hole in the wall there are three squarish openings, one large above two smaller. The large opening is a fixed-glass window about two and a half feet by four feet. The two transom-type windows below, are about eight inches by eighteen. Lots of view there. Spartans are well known for plenty of large windows. I am considering removing one window forward of the main entry door though. I want the wall space for a coat and umbrella rack.
