Airstreams make great chicken coops. And if you keep the doors and windows closed, put a pot of boiling water on the floor, and leave it in the sun for five hours, your chickens will cook themselves! Just add salt. 🐓🍗🧂 Seriously though, unless one had about 30 chickens, wouldn’t any Airstream be way too large for somewhere for the girls just to sleep and lay eggs? We have four and thought we were being smart when we built a 6x8 foot coop (so we could keep the food, bedding inside). It’s really nice looking, but it’s a nightmare to keep clean. We’re going to replace it with something less commodious later this year. Maybe something that I can just take a hose to.

Hi Friends,
This comes under the God of If
If I could get it for $100 If I wanted to wrap it gingerly and safely to transport and tow it 400 miles south or If I wanted to rather take it apart there and then transport it If I had two or three frame off restorations under my belt. If I wanted to build a new door If I wanted to remove house paint - painted drip caps and skins If I wanted to bend new J rail If I wanted to rebuild the interior framing If I had no job and I was retired If I had the working space If I was a glutton for punishment If I wanted to have some very very hard earned pride,
Then, I think I might consider it.
Cheers,
Rod

It has the original CA black license plate. SOLD! =) Actually, the CA Yellow On Black license plates didn't come out until 1963 and the only way to get the new license plate was to turn in the old one which was Black on Yellow. So that isn't really the original plate. Look at the back of any Yellow On Black license plate and you will see the year 1963 embedded where the sticker goes...

Yes, I have seen those plates with 63 hard stamped on them. So my '61 has that same black plate (it was stashed in a drawer when I bought it), so it possibly had the older more rounded yellow one? Did CA start using registration stickers starting in '63 and require the older plates be replaced? Thanks for clearing up the black plates.

Could be. Perhaps someone else here might know the answer.
