Hi everybody! My name is Fig, and after many years of wanting a travel trailer, I went out and bought one.
Not knowing ANYTHING more than "I want a travel trailer", I went out and bought something I could afford, and was light enough for me to tow.
The guy I bought it from listed it as a 1959 Dali, and even had it listed as such on the title, but after a few days of investigating and some facepalming, I come to find out that I got screwed.
It turns out i have a 64/65 Aristocrat Lo-liner.
So, title issues aside, I really like this trailer. Its big enough for what I want it to be: a mobile shelter for traveling.
So far, I've taken it on two trips. Both trips happened without incident. I did know that there was SOME moisture damage inside, but found that it was all localized to the rear of the camper.
After the last trip, I noticed that the roadside wall was flexing outwards and allowing the bed/shelf to fall off the "guide"
I knew this thing had some damage, but MAN am I glad im taking the time to fix this thing right. I have started to remove the skin from the sides and rear. I can actually feel the wood squish like wet cardboard when i squeeze it.
I can now accept that this thing is gonna be a real labor of love, but I do feel its something that will last for a long time once its done and done right.
It's funny. I didnt realize mobiltec was a forum member here. I found several of his videos on Youtube and was surprised to see his handle come up. I hope to learn a lot from you all.
The day I went to go buy it.
Cleaned up and headed out on it's first trip
The second trip. It was during this trip that I noticed some problems that I knew I couldn't put off any more
The rear driver side corner. I took off the J-rails along that entire side and took out the windows to have them rebuilt.
The road side. Note the skin has separated from the framing. I can push the skin against the framing and still have it bulge out like this.
