In preparation for our trip. I have spent a bit if time looking at vintage trailers online. I saw a picture that got me thinking. When is the last time you saw a Long trailer that was damaged on one end or just too long to deal with. I got this brainstorm. Take a 25 foot trailer and make it a 14 or 12 foot trailer. Ez to maneuver around ez to pull. Lots of extra parts. Has anyone ever done it. I know others have thought of it.

unless you carefully cut it apart and shortened both ends of the chassis to maintain proper tongue weight or re positioned the axle it would not tow properly. Several people have bought larger rigs completely disassembled them and used then parts to construct a new trailer, but it takes a lot of work and thought, it is not a project for the timid.

If I found the right larger trailer. I would go for it. It takes thought not to take it down to the frame. Easier to Reposition axles and remove one end, more than likely the back . A someday thought.

Thinking it through it shouldn't be a problem, it will be a lot of work but it's very doable. Danny

Are you thinking about a canned ham or the toaster style, the shape of the camper you are thinking about reducing would make a visual difference. Danny

Any cool style that has a curved back and curved front. Not square box style from 80's but then a real canned ham would be difficult to blend in the end removed

I'm still searching for a cool Damaged trailer that I could make shorter. A toaster style that is Short. Most likely a holiday rambler alumaframe. Make it 14-16 foot long.

That sounds like a good way to get something close to the same result for ten times as much work. Some shortcuts just aren't.

To me building a cookie cutter item is a lot of work for little results. But changing something into something that never was built, with the look and quality you want. Now that's a challenge that makes people say WOW I have never seen one like this before. Factory or custom ? Example. A Damaged Airstream trailer altered and put behind a 46 Chevy truck as a sleeper/camper. I do not have a 14-16 foot Holiday Rambler with full accessories and classic trim, within my grasp so I have a challenge to make one. To me it I'd 30 percent if the work to do frame up build. Wondering if anyone else had the custom bug before.

Oh yes, there are many people who do not have any experience and they should never take on a project that they can not do. But still some people do. A real shame.
