I'll need to make a choice shortly, and as usual I'm overthinking things. A PO had replaced my original taillights with Reflect-O-Lite 110s, probably back in the sixties. The Reflect-O-Lite plates are pretty trashed, I could probably salvage the lenses, but they seem more appropriate for a sixties vintage trailer than a '50s ham. The back wall on my Cardinal is under an inch thick, so I see the appeal of a surface mount. I'm torn between repro Bargman 99s (a hair smaller than the Reflect-O-Lites), more correct for a '50s ham 5 1/4" flush mounts (which I could hopefully fudge into the mounting depth), or something else. As I bought it, with PO-installed 6 7/8" Reflect-O-Lite 110s: 6 1/2" Bargman 99s: 5 1/4" Flush mounts:

Our 62 Forester came with the flush taillights. I like them but once the holes are cut there is obviously no going back.
Our 62 Compact had wedding cake lights. So did our Shasta 1500 and 59 Airflyte.

Yep, the wedding cakes look like Bargman 99s. I picked up the same Bargman Trail-Light license plate light as your compact, too. Looks like a nice combo.

We use 50 Pontiac tail lights but they are a bear to mount. They are surface mount, but must be mounted with screws thru a wood backer in the bed area. We also have to re-tap one end of the mounting inserts for SAE screws. (other end goes on the light body) I cut down the insert to facilitate the screws, otherwise they are too long. A very exact and frustrating process...

Our Shasta has the Bargman flush mount tail lights. I purchased new lenses from VTS. We love the look.

Being that I am a hot rod guy I can't leave anything alone and such is the case with the taillights on our '57 Shasta, they are 1960 Buick tail lights. Danny
