Needed a rock guard and with an awning rail above the front row of windows I thought maybe using that would be worth a try. I went to the guy at the local rv repair shop and he thought so too, so he gave me a used one he had just taken off some large rig. It had the gimp (I think you call it) across the top, but was just a little too big. I cut it to size and the boat cover shop down the road hemmed it for me ($20). Below the windows is a trim with screws about 3" o.c. so I replaced every other one with a snap. After our most recent trip of 1200 miles, including some interstate, it worked pretty good for the first try. As you can see in the picture, my windows angle back a bit so there is a little wind behind. If the cloth was tight against the glass it would be better maybe, but I'd probably pad it with some bubble wrap or 1/8 ply or something for better rock protection. I'd try to find a little heavier snaps too, and maybe use those turn things like used on boats on the outer two holds. But in all that trip only a couple snaps came off a couple of times. Also, its usually tighter than it is in this picture, taken yesterday when it was over 100 out there. Awning / rockguard by P., on Flickr
